A veneer is a custom-made shell-like attachment that is placed over the front of your natural tooth in order to enhance the aesthetics. Unlike Crowns, veneers do not cover the entire tooth; only the front surface.
Benefit of Veneers
- Improve discoloured teeth, that cannot be treated with teeth whitening
- Improve and cover stains from food, drugs or medicines
- Improve chipped, fractured or broken teeth
- Improve misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth
- Improve and close gaps between teeth
Porcelain veneers are thin but strong pieces of porcelain used to create a beautiful smile. They are individually designed specifically to suit the shape, size and colour that you want each tooth to look like.
Composite veneers are the closest alternatives to porcelain veneers, with minimal or no natural tooth structure having to be removed. The dentist artistically builds up the tooth out of a composite resin material, this allows them to add on/take off material to customise the shape, colour and size to your liking. This being the least expensive option, still giving you a beautiful result.
Our dentists will discuss which options might be suitable for you. As with everything, there are pros and cons to both types of restorations and it’s not one size fits all, just like some people may not be suitable for this option at all.
